Zunilda Ramos Obituary

Treasured grandmother, mother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend Zunilda (“Zuni”) was born on April 26, 1938 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Ana Silvia Ramos and Jose “Papito” Lithgow. She was considered a sibling of Hector Rodriguez, her cousin, whom she always loved for his wicked sense of humor and beautiful light eyes–similar to her own. She lived through many historical and difficult life events in the Dominican Republic, but she was most unwavering and dedicated to her family, especially in raising her two grand-daughters in the Dominican Republic and caring for them into adulthood in New Jersey. She is survived by her loving and thankful daughter Altagracia, son-in-law Henry, loving son Chelo, the fruits of her labor & grand-daughters Nicole and Jenni, and her youngest grand-daughter Roschellys. Zuni was infamous for her sass and side-eye. But to her family, especially her grand-daughters, she will always be remembered as an unwavering rock, the most loving of abuelas, the funniest and the flirtiest. Later in life, she would always reminisce about her time raising her two granddaughters in the Dominican Republic for 12 years. Even as she forgot some things, she never forgot her memories of the 3 Musketeers: how she would rush to their school during recess to spend a few minutes with Jenni (whom she always tenderly called Mi Jenni) while Jenni got to delight in her pacifier behind a large tree in the school’s courtyard; how Nicole would often get stomach bugs as a child so she would make her the most delicious meal with potatoes and Dominican white cheese; how she would protect her two girls fiercely and would never go anywhere without her two girls, or as she would call them–”mis dos muchachas.” Zuni: thank you for caring for all of us so fiercely and unconditionally throughout your entire life. We are heartbroken at the thought of not being able to squeeze you or tickle you one more time, but are glad that you have joined “Dios, Jehová y Cristo” as you would pray to him every day. We will miss you so much but are relieved to know that you will be reunited with your beloved mother, Silvia, whom you loved and missed so much. We will think of you always. Your loving family ❣️

Tu familia ❣️
