William Edward "Billy" Schweizer was 55 years old when he passed away Monday, November 11, 2024, from a prolonged battle with Acute Leukemia. Born in Teaneck, Billy was the youngest of ten children born to John and Jane Schweizer who raised their family in Bergenfield. He attended St. John the Evangelist Elementary School and served as an Alter Boy at St. John's Church. He then graduated from Bergenfield High School. He further received his Associate Degree of Science in Labor Studies and Electrical Theory from SUNY Empire State College and spent the first 10 years of his career working as an electrician for the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers, IBEW Local 3 in New York City. He would end his career with the IBEW after suffering the ill effects of working with the recovery effort at Ground Zero. After that, William went back to school and received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in Labor Relations. He started his government career with the Department of Treasury/Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer where he also became a Representative for Federal Agents in Local 121. He excelled in his career working for the U.S. Department of Labor. He started as a Wage & Hour Investigator and was a Union Steward and Treasurer for NCFLL 2513. After earning his MS Degree in Performance Improvement from Grantham University, William became a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist/ Regional Wage Specialist working in Philadelphia, PA, later becoming Chief of Branch of Business Operations for the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division in Washington, DC.
Billy is predeceased by his parents John Robert Schweizer and Jane Mary Gillen as well as his brother John "Jackie" Schweizer.
He is survived by his beloved wife Anna (Reutova), his cherished son Shane William Schweizer, and his devoted brothers and sisters Kathleen Brewer, Ann Marie Dunn, Robert Schweizer, Patricia Faloon, Elizabeth Ann Carbone, Thomas Schweizer, Jane Dreyer, and Michael Schweizer. "Fun Uncle Billy" is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial Visiting Hours at Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, on Friday, November 15th from 6 pm to 9 pm at 1151 River Rd, New Milford, NJ 07646. The following morning, Saturday, November 16th, a Memorial Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Bergenfield, NJ at 9:45 am.
