Virginia M. Thomas of Hackensack, NJ passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2022. She was born in Battle Creek, MI on May 15th, 1924. Virginia lived in Battle Creek for many years before moving to NY where she met and married Leroy J. Thomas in 1953. She had a perpetual smile on her face that would light up the room. Her thoughtfulness, kindness and love were given in abundance to all she came into contact with. It is often said that this or that person made the world a better place, but that was never more true than in the case of Virginia. She was in a constant state of happiness, cheerful, caring, funny, loving, nurturing, generous, quick to laugh and was an optimist to a fault. If only she had a better sense of direction, she would have been perfect. Virginia was an excellent cook. Her biscuits, cakes and pies were cherished by all who knew her and she made sure to have your favorite one on your birthday. Virginia was a faithful church goer for most of her life and was last a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack, NJ where she always sat in the same seat. Virginia loved music, playing cards, swimming, bowling and puppies. She is survived by daughter Wilbert L. Simmons, sons, Leroy Thomas Jr. and Mark Thomas as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, Walter and Nevell Smith, husband, Leroy J. Thomas Sr, sister, Dorothy Cromwell, daughter, Saint Aubyn Thomas and grandson, Justin Bivens. She will be welcomed by Angels as one of their own.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours and services at the funeral home on Friday August 19th. Visitation/Viewing will begin at 10:00am until 11:30am.
