Vincent J. Guido

Vincent J. Guido of New Milford, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 28, 2022.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa, loving parents Rafaella and Jocamo and siblings Lilly, Joseph, Margarite, Anne and Marie. 

Survived by his loving daughter Deborah Petro and her husband Ray.  Also survived by his loving son Gregory and his wife Jill and grandchildren Lara and Anthony.  As well as loving nieces and nephews.

Born in New York City in 1926 and grew up in midtown Manhattan and was a first-generation Italian American whose parents emigrated to America at the turn of the century.

As a young boy, Vincent served as an altar boy at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle in NYC.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

In 1959 Vincent became one of the Bravest when he joined the New York City Fire Department and served honorably until his retirement in 1987.

Vincent was a person of deep faith in God and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and father in-law. Vincent had a good sense of humor, loved playing poker and was an avid runner.  He taught his children by example to be kind and strong.

Visiting hours are Monday, January 31, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 1, 9:30 AM at Church of the Ascension, 256 Azalea Drive, New Milford, NJ.  Interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ.
