Salvador Fernando Juarez Rivas Obituary

Salvador Fernando Juarez Rivas was 68 years old when he passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Salvador, known to many as ‘Chele” or Fernando, was a man who was always smiling and brought so much joy when he entered rooms.

He was born and raised in Ciudad Arce, La Libertad, El Salvador. His spirit reflects Ciudad Arce, a place that is warm, friendly, inviting, and loving. He is loved by many there, family and friends, and it is a place that holds deep roots and generations of memories. He loved walking through the streets waving and talking to people as he passed them by. Ciudad Arce was home to him.

Salvador was blessed and built a life in Los Angeles and Arizona, with his wife and two kids. He dedicated his life to creating a life of peace and joy. He was a dad that drove all around town to practices, tournaments, family and friends’ outings. He spent his time with loved ones and was always present for those he cared about.

He accomplished a dream to retire early and had the joy of traveling to Europe and Down Under. He loved road trips, new experiences and places to explore, something he discovered at a young age as he traveled through Brazil in his early 20s. Most of all, he loved to spend his days off the coast of El Salvador, La Libertad, eating conchas by the beach with his family.

Salvador loved unconditionally. His heart, and home were open to all. He deeply loved his best friend, wife, and the love of his life, Julie. Together for over 45 years, they had that “meant to be” kind of love. He treasured their love and always showed it off to her and the world. It was Julie and Fernando’s world,  and many had the honor to be part of it.

He loved his kids, Sal and Sabrina, a sound voice in their life, filled with wisdom and love. He carried a special love for friends and family. Everyone was a cousin, or a relative, even when they actually weren’t. A man who was an only child, but lived as though he had many brothers and sisters, by the way he was loved. And last but not least, it’s important to share his love for 70s music, The Beatles, and being a hippie at heart.

His most recent joy was being called “TATA” by his grandchildren. He loved the time he spent with them and would make every effort to be with them.

You could always find him in shorts, a polo shirt, and a smile, ready to go anywhere with no complaints. Salvador was predeceased by his wife, Julia Del Carmen; son, Salvador Juarez Jr.; and daughter, Sabrina Castillo, four grandchildren, family, and many many friends.

Please join us in celebrating his life on June 17, 2023, at 10 AM for a Memorial Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church located at 445 Fith Avenue, River Edge NJ 07661.
