Roy M. Borja of Jersey City was 67 years old when he passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Born in Marikina City, Philippines, Roy was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters, he was especially close to Cora and Alice throughout his life. Roy graduated from the Central College of the Philippines earning a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He would later immigrate to Montreal, Canada to live with his sister Cora. While living with Cora, Roy was introduced by family to Evangeline Cabreros. Roy and Evangeline fell in love and within a year were married. After their son Rogie was born, Roy moved his family to the United States. They initially lived in West New York before settling in Jersey City where he enjoyed playing tennis every Saturday morning in Lincoln Park, participating in and winning many tournaments. Roy was also incredibly creative, in recent months he had taught himself how to play piano.
Roy was predeceased by his late parents Artemio Borja and Luz (nee Moral) Borja. He is survived by his beloved wife Evangeline Cabreros as well as his loving children Rogie and Rebecca Borja. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford on Friday, June 5th from 3 pm to 8 pm where we will celebrate Roy’s life. The following morning, (Saturday, June 6th) family will receive friends for an additional viewing in the chapel of Our Lady of Mercy RC Church, 40 Sullivan Drive, Jersey City, NJ from 9:15 am to 10 am. At 10 am a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy RC Church. After Mass has concluded, cremation will take place at Evergreen Cemetery & Crematory located at 1137 North Broad Street, Hillside, NJ 07205. Family and friends are invited to attend a repast at the Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet, 701 NJ-440, Jersey City, NJ 07304 from 2 pm to 4 pm Saturday.
The family is requesting all guests to wear white during the Friday viewing and Saturday funeral mass, additionally guests are respectfully requested to refrain from wearing black.
