Robert A. Rogers

Robert Rogers, aged 59, of Teaneck, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 25th 2023, at home surrounded by family from a malignant brain tumor.

Robert was born on May 5th 1963, to Joyce and Courtney Rogers in Trinidad. After Robert earned his GED, he went on to study Education at City College of New York. In 1983, Robert met Debbie at City College. Robert and Debbie had one son Akeil.  In 2020, Robert retired from New York City Board of Education after over 30 years.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education, he started his job at A Philip Randolph High School as a technology teacher. He later earned his master’s degree in education. Robert was a teacher for over 30 years where he guided and mentored many young men and women. He was boys track coach for over 20 years. Robert had a way of getting through to the toughest kids and getting them to learn. Over the years he has gotten many phone calls from former students thanking him for his help and telling him about their successes. Robert ran track at City College and was an all American. When time allowed, he would try his hand at golf. Robert loved to laugh, and he loved his family.

Robert was predeceased by his father Courtney, Mother Joyce, and brother Richard. He is survived by his wife Debbie, son Akeil, sister Roxanne, sister Ann, Uncle Roland and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
