Robert Kenneth Gustafson was 82 years old when he passed away Wednesday, April 27th 2022. Born in Teaneck, NJ Robert was raised in Englewood before settling in New Milford where he has lived for over 40 years.
He was an incredibly talented man who loved to work with his hands having served as an auto mechanic, carpenter and furniture maker. He later went on to join the IATSE Local #1 where he worked as the Foreman of the Iron Shop with Hudson Scenic Studio constructing and fabricating sets for many famous Broadway plays; The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia, Beauty and The Beast and Star Light Express to name a few. Robert even helped create the Millennium Waterford Crystal Ball that descended on Times Square in 2000.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Loretta E. (nee Alongi) Gustafson and his loving daughter Loretta Anne Schatz and her husband Paul. He was predeceased by his son Robert Gustafson and brothers Charles and Joseph Gustafson. Robert is the cherished grandfather of Sara and Samantha Schatz. He is also survived by many other loving family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford NJ on Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm. A prayer service will be offered at 5 pm during the visiting hours. A private cremation will follow.
