Richard S. "Pop" Johnson

Richard S. "Pop" Johnson passed away one day shy of his 79th birthday at home on Friday, October 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Teaneck, Richard lived his entire life in New Milford. He attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and graduated from New Milford High School. Richard attended the University of Miami but choose to leave school to join the Army, United States National Guard. He proudly served for 31 years retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 2001. Richard worked as a Military Mechanic for the Department of Defense at the Teaneck Armory his entire career. An active member of his community, he was a former leader of the New Milford Boy Scouts Troop. His dedication to those who served our country led him to hold a position on the Executive Board of the Wounded Warriors Run.

Beloved husband of 45 years to his wife Donna (nee Argenzia), Richie is the loving father of his daughter Tiffany Harris and her husband David, daughter Tami Horvath and her husband Adam, and son Scott Johnson and his wife Sabrina. “Pop” is also survived by his cherished grandsons Dylan and Gavin Harris. And his faithful dog Bailey.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 1151 River Road, New Milford, NJ on Tuesday, October 15th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A prayer service will be offered the following morning, Wednesday, at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
