Ralph Peter Fernandez, Jr, age 59, of New York City passed away suddenly on Friday, December 9, 2022. Cherished son of the late Ralph Fernandez and Virginia (McKenna) Thompson. Devoted stepson of the late Lou Thompson.  Dear brother of Daniel (Mary) Fernandez, Clare Zachmann, Patty (Wayne) Halsall, Michael (Anne Marie) Fernandez, Virginia (Mike) Smith, and David (Marci) Fernandez. Ralph is predeceased by his beloved sister Ellen. Ralph’s memory will always be cherished by his nieces and nephews: Casey and Jay Zachmann and Kim Hruska, Michael Rattacasa, Brian Fernandez and Grace Lotz, Elizabeth Halsall, Jack, Brendan and Maeve Fernandez; Clare and Michael Smith, Will, Sylvie and Lila Fernandez.

Born February 26, 1963 and raised in New Milford, NJ, Ralph proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and told wonderful stories of his travels and adventures while in the service. Following his tour in the Navy, Ralph lived in Virginia where his engaging  personality helped him find success selling cars at dealerships in the DC area. Ralph’s love of history made him a perfect tour guide for those who visited him in DC.  Most recently, Ralph was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 30.

Charming and gregarious, Ralph made friends easily wherever he went. He enjoyed reading and the Sunday morning political shows. Above all, Ralph loved his family and the times spent together. Ralph’s spirit and distinct laughter will be missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford, NJ on Saturday December 17th from 2 pm to 5 pm. A prayer service will be offered at 3 pm.
