Philip J. Sullivan was 88 years old when he passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 29th surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, at the age of 9 months Philip moved to Allihies, County Cork, Ireland where he was raised until the age of 14. He returned to New York City, attending Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. In 1952 Philip proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving two tours of duty oversees during the Korean War. After the war, he earned a BS in Accounting from Pace University and later went on to work as an Accountant for the Singer Corporation for many years. Philip was an active member of the Gooney Bird Detachment #434 of the Marine Corp League, as well as the VFW Post 4290, the Gaelic Park Football Club and was a former member of the Pearl River American Legion Post 329.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Elizabeth C. (nee McCarthy). He is the loving father of Veronica Capone and Mary Sullivan. Philip is the devoted grandfather of Christina Elizabeth Capone. He was predeceased by his late sons Patrick and Timothy Sullivan. A funeral mass will be celebrated in his memory, Monday, November 4th at 11am in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, New Milford/Oradell. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday in the funeral home from 4pm to 8pm.
