Michal Chobor, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the age of 81. Born in Kamienka, Slovakia to Juraj and Maria (Sipko) Chobor, Michal immigrated to the USA in 1969 and settled in Brooklyn, NY before moving to New Milford, New Jersey to raise a family.
Mike was employed by J.P. Morgan Chase in New York City for 32 years, where he was recognized for his many achievements, up until his retirement in 2004.
Mike cherished his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits, finding great joy in their company. His face would light up with every story they shared and every laugh they brought into his home. These moments filled his heart with so much happiness.
Mike enjoyed reminiscing about his days back in Slovakia with family and friends – and kept up to date on their lives, always eager to hear about their latest adventures and achievements.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Anna (Chobor) Lichvar and Helen (Chobor) Vitale.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Chobor, daughter Valerie (Chobor) Cuevas and husband Chris Cuevas of Pittsburgh, PA; Brother George Chobor (Justina) of Morris Plains, NJ; Sister Maria Zima (Peter) of Staten Island, NY; and sister Olga Hlinka (Vasil) of Branchburg, NJ; brother-in-law Marino Abreu, sister-in-law Victoria Corvino, and four grandchildren: Sophia, Chloe, Alexander & Aiden. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
