Martin Stroosnyder Obituary

Martin James Stroosnyder was 81 years old when he passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Born and raised in Garfield, New Jersey, Martin was a resident of New Milford, New Jersey from 1964 until settling in Westport, Massachusetts in 2008. Martin proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958-1963 serving on the USS Des Moines. He would later be employed by the Hackensack Water Company, where he worked for over 38 years, retiring as the Leader of the Meter Shop in 2003. Martin was an active member of his community, having volunteered with the New Milford Fire Department, Company #2 from 1965 to 2008, and serving as Chief of the Department in 1976.

Martin is survived by his beloved wife Elsie of 57 years. He is the loving father of Jeffrey M. Stroosnyder and his wife Lisa, Lori E. Rothrock and her husband Captain Gregory Rothrock and Jill A. Cipollini and her husband Mario. He will be missed by his devoted grandchildren, Kurtis and Emma Stroosnyder, Egan and Elly Rothrock, and Dominic and Lily Cipollini.  Martin is survived by his loving sisters Gail Stroosnyder and Wilma Vartanian, brother-in-law Charles Vartanian, and sisters-in-laws: Barabara Stroosnyder, and Linda Ganger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Jacobus Stroosnyder and Leuntje (Lillian) Wilhelmina Zweemer, his brother John Stroosnyder and his brother-in-law Ralph Ganger.    He will be missed by his many nephews, nieces, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and his first responder and Navy families.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday from 4 pm to 8 pm with a Fireman's Prayer Service being offered at 7 pm in the Funeral Home. The following day, Tuesday a funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home at 10 am. Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
