Makayla Jenise Nunez

Makayla Jenise Nunez, age 5, has gained her angel wings on November 7, 2002. After being diagnosed with a rare condition called Ohtahara Syndrome. She fought like the true warrior that she is. She defied the odds and despite a life expectancy of 8 months, she gave us more than 5 beautiful years. And that is the best gift we will forever cherish. She peacefully passed in the arms of her parents at Hackensack University Medical center and the her medical staff who have fought side by side with her.

Makayla will always be remembered by her fighting spirit and tough cookie attitude. She loved to snuggle under the blankets, listening to music, and getting pampered. Makayla was full of so much love and it showed by the strength she carried. She touched the lives of those who knew her and won the hearts of those around her.  That is why she will always be Wonder Girl Makayla.

The family would like to thank her doctors, staff at HUMC, therapists, as well as her home nurses for providing incredible care to Makayla all these years.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th, beginning 9:30 am in St. Mary's Church, Dumont.
