Kris Venechanos of New Milford passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Kris was born in the Bronx to Patricia (Nani) and James Dempsey, raised in Hackensack where she lived for many years, before settling at home in New Milford to raise her family in 1995.
Kris was a dedicated dental hygienist for nearly 40 years, loving every moment knowing that she was helping and caring for people.
She had a passion for life and was a gifted artisan. Whether it was taking photographs with her old Minolta, scrapbooking family memories, or crocheting items to donate to local hospitals and families, Kris's love showed through her creations, kindness and generosity. She created many cherished memories with the time she spent with her friends and family at the Jersey shore. After her girls finished school, Kris set out on adventures traveling the world to such places as Italy, Greece, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Switzerland and many more.. but none as precious as Seaside Park.
Kris is survived by her beloved husband Steven Venechanos. She is the loving mother of Lauren Venechanos and her wife Anastasia and Julie Venechanos and her fiancé Andrew. Kris is the devoted sister of Lynn Dempsey and Kerri Dempsey and cherished aunt of Kelley Bula and Nicole Dattolico. She is also survived by her granddogs Rain and Max, in spirit.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Wednesday, May 13th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford, NJ. A prayer service will be offered in the funeral home at 8 pm. Kris's spontaneous laugh and radiant smile will truly be missed by a world of wonderful friends and family
