Joseph A. Morgese

Joseph A. Morgese of New Milford, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born in Carbondale, PA, on February 28, 1930, to Vito and Anna (Palmitessa) Morgese.

He served on Active Duty with the U.S. Army from 1951–1953 (Korean War) and five years in the Inactive Reserve, receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 27, 1957.

Joseph was married to the love of his life, Joan (Gerwek) Morgese, for 72 years and raised four children.

He enjoyed a successful career in the insurance business and retired in 1999 as Executive Vice President at AON Company. Joseph was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension in New Milford for many years.

Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Ack, brothers, Vito, Leonard, and Anthony Morgese, and son-in-law, Chris Bell. He is survived by his wife, Joan, and his four children: Christopher (Barbara) Morgese, Nancy Morgese, Janet (Pete) Lawton, and Carol (Jed) Duryea. Joseph is also survived by his grandchildren Cory, Jesse, Rachel, Jillian, Christopher, Craig, Katie, Justine, and Colin, as well as his great-grandchildren Brighton, Cameron, Ellis, and Cassius.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford, NJ. The following morning, Friday, January 9, 2026, a Funeral Mass celebrating Joseph’s memory will be held at the Church of the Ascension, 256 Azalea Drive, New Milford, NJ.
