John Lensi Obituary

John F. Lensi, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Lensi, who passed away four years ago. Their enduring love and partnership were the foundation of a family filled with warmth and laughter.

John was the cherished father of Michelle Clancy, who shares her life with her fiancé, Matthew Flanagan, and Aimee Jacobs, who is married to her loving husband, Jeffrey Jacobs, with whom John created a lifetime of fond memories.  He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Katelin Clancy, Liam Clancy, John Clancy, Mia Jacobs, and Harrison Jacobs.  John also leaves behind his dear brother, George Lensi, with whom he shared a lifelong bond, and George’s wife, Joanne.

John dedicated over 25 years of his life to serving his community with distinction as a police officer.  Through hard work and unwavering commitment, he rose through the ranks to become a Detective and later a Detective Captain, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community alike.  His service was marked by integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of duty.

A proud Navy veteran, John served his country with honor and pride. After his service, he carried his strong work ethic and vibrant personality into every aspect of his life. One of his favorite memories was working at his father’s deli in Hoboken, where he developed a love for sharing stories and connecting with people.

Education was one of John’s greatest passions. He treasured his time at William Paterson College, often regaling loved ones with tales of his college days and expressing a deep love for learning.  John frequently remarked that he would happily return to school if given the chance. His curiosity and enthusiasm for knowledge were boundless, a quality he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

John will be remembered for his quick wit, warm heart, and his knack for storytelling. Whether reminiscing about his early days in Hoboken, his time in the Navy, or his adventures in education, John’s stories brought joy and inspiration to all who heard them.  His legacy of love, curiosity, and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

May John F. Lensi rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Frances, and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
