John W. Guarini

John W. Guarini was 96 years old when he passed away Sunday, February 14th. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, John was a resident of New Milford since 1957. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945. John was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded fighting Japanese forces during the Battle of Iwo Jima, as well as in the invasion of Roi-Namur during the Battle of  Kwajalein, the Battle of Saipan, and the Battle of Tinian.  After serving his country, John went on to work for PSEG as a welder for 35 years before retiring.

He is predeceased by his late wife Freda Jean of 65 years, his late twin brother Jimmy Guarini and his late sister Dorothy Donnenwirth. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Jimmy Guarini, Billy Guarini, Jack Guarini, Joan Petrosie, Dorothy Donnewirth, John and his wife Barbara Fahrenholz, Charles Fahrenholz,  Michael Brophy, Thomas Brophy, Cullen Brophy, Tommy Guarini and Marisol Rodriguez.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in his memory on Saturday, February 20th at 10am in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Haworth. Burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting hours will be offered from 5pm to 8pm in the Funeral Home on Friday evening. If you are unable to attend the visiting hours on Friday a live streaming link will be available at 5 pm est.
