On Saturday, September 24, 2022, James J. Davino passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in 1924 in Fairview, NJ to Alfonso and Carmelina Davino.He was married to Helen (deceased) for nearly 63 years raising 4 children and enjoying 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild (due any day now).
For over 60 years, Jim and Helen were residents of Dumont, parishioners of St. Mary's and fixtures at Rudy Pizzeria in Closter.
Jim was a WWII Veteran having served in the Pacific theatre. He was the recipient of 4 medals and was honorably discharged from the US Army Air Corp in 1946 holding the rank of Corporal.
He worked at Lever Brothers for over 35 years in various management roles and, in his retirement years, he was an avid golfer and volunteered his time to support the Pioneer Youth Golf Program.
At 98, Jim was active up until his death playing pool with his buddies at the local senior center, taking long walks, playing dominoes and winning 85% of the time at cards. His adorable smile and ability to make friends continued throughout his life.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Helen and brother John. He is survived by his 4 children - Donna/Joe McCann, Robert/Janet, Larry/Karen, Christopher/Meredith, 8 grandchildren - Katrina, Carly, Chet, Matthew, Laura, Bradley, Stephanie, Brett and soon-to-be great granddaughter.
Our family will welcome friends at Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service in New Milford, NJ on Wednesday, September 28,2022 from 3pm to 7pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St Mary's Church in Dumont, NJ on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 9:30am.
A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim's name to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
