Ida Rose Ascolese

Ida Rose (nee Cauca) Ascolese, passed to be with the Lord on December 9, 2021 at the age of 76.  A resident of Clermont Florida, Ida was born May 29, 1945, and raised in Newark NJ in the Ironboud Section, lived and raised her family in New Milford NJ before retiring to Florida. 

Beloved wife of Richard P. Ascolese for over 46 years, her sons Michael and his wife Stephanie Ascolese, and Christopher and his wife Michelle Ascolese.  Loving Nonna to her beautiful grandchildren Jessica, Nicholas, Nicolette and Justin Ascolese.   

Predeceased by her parents Anthony and Anna (nee D'Alessio) Cauca originally of Newark, NJ, Ida is survived by her brother Samuel Cauca, sisters Rosann Morelli, and Patricia and her husband Victor Casale. Dear Sister in law to Donna, Gary and Marguerite, and Dan and Therese Ascolese.  Beloved Aunt to Brian, Kevin, Eric, and Matthew Ascolese, Christine Broski, Joseph Casale and all their families.  Great aunt, god mother, cousin and friend to many, and her dear childhood friends who were like adopted sisters, Bernice Depiro and Estelle Toscano. She will be dearly missed by all.

Ida was always active in church life at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Newark where she was a student, and as an adult Ida also served as Director of the children’s choir, along with volunteering to many organizations and committees. While living in New Milford, Ida served on many of the Ascension Church and School committees where her children attended, and was a member of the choir at Ascension Church.  In Clermont, she was a proud member of the Italian Club of the Kings Ridge Community, and member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, Fla.

Before marriage, Ida worked in the Essex County Welfare Office, after moving to New Milford, she had worked as the Office Administrator for the Bergen County CYO Office in Paramus. 

Ida was a devout Catholic, a religious and spiritual woman, who loved children and prayed for everyone daily. She was a beloved family member who also cared for her aunt and uncle for many years. Throughout her life, she devoted her free time to her church, social work and youth organizations.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 30 at 10am, at Church of the Ascension, 256 Azalea Drive, in New Milford, NJ. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery,  340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
