Gary R. Gross, Sr. Obituary

Gary R. Gross Sr., 83, of Snellville, GA, was called to heaven on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He passed peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by family, friends, and clergy praying by his side.

Gary was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. He began his career as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician and had a lifelong passion for modifying and racing cars. He married his first wife, Trina Gross, and together they purchased a home in North Bergen, NJ. There, Gary launched a sheet metal business, working out of a modest two-car garage. Through his dedication and craftsmanship, he grew his company, joined the Local #28 Sheet Metal Workers Union in New York City, and moved his family to the suburbs of River Edge, NJ, where they thrived.

After Trina’s passing from cancer, Gary later found love again with his second wife, Nancee. The couple moved to the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and opened a successful bed and breakfast. In retirement, they settled in Georgia to enjoy the warmer climate.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Nancee Gross, and his children: Lynda and her husband John Vogel, Tammie Hallberg and her husband Don Hallberg, Darren Gross and his husband Phil Hansen, and Gary R. Gross Jr. and his wife Claudia Haughn. He was a proud grandfather of four and great-grandfather of three.

Gary was a mechanical genius—if you gave him a pair of pliers and enough time, he could make a washing machine fly. He had a sharp mind, a generous spirit, and a deep love for animals, especially his cherished dogs, Bella and Turtle.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 6th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford. A prayer service will be offered at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in Gary’s memory.
