Felix Jorge Torres “Tato” was born September 24, 1941 to Felix Luis Torres and Maria Elisa Torres and was the eldest brother of five siblings: Albert, Myrna, Rosita and Nilda. He was raised in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico which is located on the southern coast of the island. Growing up, he loved swimming and fishing in the rivers and lakes of Guayabal, Puerto Rico. He was nicknamed “Tato" and often called “Tonto” in reference to a show called "Lone Ranger" by his closest friends. Felix wanted more opportunities in life, so he decided to leave the beautiful island of Puerto Rico in the early 1960’s where he would call Bronx, New York his new home. Many summers after moving to New York, he enjoyed going back home to visit his family and friends in Puerto Rico. Felix was a hard worker; he worked as a Welder for many years. After living in New York for about 40 years, in 2006, he moved with his family to Englewood, New Jersey.
Felix was a caring person who loved spending time with his loved ones. He enjoyed exercising and always maintained a healthy physique. He took pride in his appearance and enjoyed going out sporting his favorite cologne. He loved listening to music, singing, and dancing. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and was humorously entertained by social media’s TikTok. He was also a jokester and always made people laugh. He eventually retired from his job to help care for his late partner, Maria, who was terminally ill with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Felix was a loving son, brother, partner, father and grandfather. His dear relatives will miss him greatly. Felix passed away on Friday, January 5th, 2024 at the age of 82 at his residence in Englewood, New Jersey. He will forever be in our hearts; we cherish all the wonderful memories and remember his cheerful personality. Thank you for being such an amazing soul; every person who has crossed your path has been truly blessed to have met you. Our hope is that you have reunited with your loved ones in heaven. We love you forever!
