Emilie J. (Giering) Herm

Emilie J. (nee Giering) Herm was 86 years old when she passed away Saturday, October 14th, 2023. Born in Hoboken, Emilie was a resident of New Milford for over 50 years. She was a graduate of A. J. Demarest High School, Hoboken, and went on to earn a BA from Montclair State University . Emilie was a teacher with the Weehawken Board of Education for several years finishing her teaching career at New Milford High School.

Active in her community, Emilie was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Ascension, New Milford, the New Milford/Teaneck Elks Lodge #2290, and the New Wilford Women’s Club.

Emilie was predeceased by her husband Joseph H. Herm (2019). She is survived by her loving daughters Katharine Keller and her husband James, Kristen Hackett and her husband Robert and Keri Komisar and her husband Andrew. Emilie was the devoted grandmother of Ronald and his wife Christine, Joseph and his wife Stacy, Matthew and his wife Nicole, Emily and her husband Matthew, Katie and her fiance Vincenzo, Jack, Andrew and Nicholas as well as her cherished great grandchildren Zachary, Ronald III, and Noah.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The following morning, Thursday, a funeral mass will be celebrated in her memory at 10 am in the Church of the Ascension, New Milford. Burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton, NJ.
