Ellen Teresa McQuaid

Ellen Teresa McQuaid (née Bradley) passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, Ireland, Ellen immigrated to the United States as a teenager—first living with a cousin in Philadelphia, then later settling in the Bronx. It was there, at an Irish dance, that she met the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” McQuaid. They married and eventually moved to New Jersey, where they built a home and raised their family.

Ellen devoted many years to raising her children before returning to school to earn her certification as a home health aide. She worked tirelessly and compassionately, caring for countless patients and their families. A longtime and active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Leonia, she faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Ellen is the beloved wife of 53 years to Thomas “Tom” McQuaid. She is the loving mother of Thomas McQuaid and his wife Nieve; Colm McQuaid and his wife Jeannie; Mark McQuaid; and Cathy O’Sullivan and her husband Diarmaid. Ellen was predeceased by eight siblings and is survived by her brother, Shaun Bradley, as well as many nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a wide circle of dear friends. She is also lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren: Dillon, Tyler, Ella, Maoly, Aidan, Gavin, and Grace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 9th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 470 Broad Avenue, Leonia, New Jersey.
