Doradene Morgan

Doradene Morgan passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family, Saturday April 29, 2023 at the age of 96.

Dora, as she was known to most, was born on September 18, 1926 to the late Malley Wathey and Elise Cooper on the island of St. Martin. She grew up in Aruba and St. Martin. She enjoyed watching sports, dancing and the sounds of Calypso music. She worked for many years at Lago Hospital in San Nicholas, Aruba, first in the pantry and later in the X-Ray department as an X-Ray technician. Dora met the love of her life, Vernon and together with their 3 children they left Aruba in 1955 for New York. In New York, she worked for many years at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, where she first was an X-Ray technician and later a supervisor of the X-ray department until she retired. Dora had a great love for needle point, gardening and dancing. She was the heart and soul of the family.

She is survived by her two children Leona Nicholson and Julio Nicholson, her grandchildren, Francesca Porter, Daniella DeNooijer, Renee Nicholson, Julius Nicholson, Aria Nicholson, Anjulia Nicholson, Nicole Avelina, Khalilah Wilson and Verdell Nicholson, 13 great-grandchildren, her “adopted” son Alfonso Mingo and many other family members. Dora is predeceased by her husband and forever love, Vernon Morgan and her son Wendell Nicholson.
