Carl Samson, a man of unwavering loyalty, intellectual vigor, and quiet strength, passed away on May 10, 2025, at the age of 71. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Carl Leaves a legacy grounded in integrity, purpose, and love. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ellen, his daughters, Alison and Erica, and four grandchildren.

Raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, Carl’s early years were shaped by intellectual pursuits and his competitive nature – traits that’s would define the rest of his life. After marrying Ellen in 1978, the couple settled in Livingston, NJ where they raised their daughters and spent many wonderful years together.

Carl was a deeply respected attorney, whose most fulfilling professional years were spent at New Jersey Title Insurance Company. There, he earned a reputation as not just an excellent attorney but an exceptional boss and mentor. His colleagues knew him as a man who led by example. As Ayn Rand wrote, “The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone.” Carl’s confidence in his principles made him a man of value to all who knew him.

He had a competitive spirit and a lifelong passion for games of strategy and skill. Whether golfing, playing chess, rolling strikes in bowling, or bidding boldly in bridge, Carl relished both the challenge and camaraderie.

Carl was a man of strong convictions and political awareness, never afraid to speak his mind or engage in spirited debate. He believed that sharing knowledge was a duty, not a choice. His words, though firm, were always underpinned by care and respect.

Above all, Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a source of guidance, and shared his stories with great fondness and spirit. Carl was nothing if but loyal. He cultivated lasting friendships that stood the test of time. Carl’s family is the lasting result of a life lived with intention, love, and unshakable dedication.
