Blas Antonio Crespo Velazquez was 88 years old when he passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
He was born in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico to parents Pablo Crespo and Adela Velazquez. Blas married his wife Ana at the age of 24. Blas and Ana later came to the Bronx, New York to pursue the American Dream. The couple settled in the Bronx and had two children. Blas served as a Specialist Fourth Class (SP 4) for The United States Army National Guard receiving honorable discharge in 1961. To provide for his family, Blas worked as a foreman for the Fire Door Corporation for 25 years where he had a long and dedicated career retiring at the age of 55. He was also an excellent high school basketball player in Puerto Rico, earning him recognition from The Basketball Association of Toa Alta.
Blas is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ana Angelica Crespo Narvaez and his loving children Anthony Crespo and Annette Morales. He is the cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Elizabeth, Angelica, Michael and great-grandfather of Gabriella.
Blas is deeply loved and will be missed dearly. He will forever be in our hearts and his spirit will live on in the cherished memories of his family and all those who knew him.
His children will receive family and friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 1151 River Road, New Milford on Thursday, February 6. A funeral service will be offered in the funeral home the following morning, Friday, February 7 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
