Antonio S. Taranto

Antonio S. Taranto was 79 years old when he passed away in his home, Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born in Caltanissetta and raised in Palermo, Sicily. His family owned one of the first automobile dealerships in Palermo, which led to him to working with cars at a very early age. He was a mechanic by trade, and one of the first Sicilian test track pilots for Fiat. In the mid 70’s, Antonio immigrated to the United States by ship. It was on this journey to his new home that he would meet Rosina Gurreri. The couple would marry and finally settle in Bergenfield, NJ. Antonio retired from the Palisades Interstate Park Commission after a multi-decade career. His retirement was spent driving around with his dog, watching westerns, and visiting family and friends.

Antonio is predeceased by his beloved late wife Rosina (2019) and their son Alex (1999). He is survived by his loving son Anthony Taranto and his partner Jeanne Arnold. Antonio was cherished brother of Giuseppe Taranto, Stefano Taranto, and Maria Taranto.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 21st from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1151 River Road, New Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the ASPCA.
