Alice Jean Zampella

Alice Jean Zampella of New Milford was 87 years old when she passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Alice was raised in Utica, New York. Her family would later move to Hudson County, New Jersey, before settling in New Milford in 1970. She was a very active member of the Church of the Ascension, New Milford, and was a member of the church choir for 40 years. She also taught Religious Education, served as a sacristan, and was a Girl Scout leader.  Alice was a talented lady who knitted, sewed and loved to grow anything.  She had labels made that she put in all of her knitted items, “Made with love by Alice Zampella.   She was an excellent cook and baker, learning from her mother, Amelia, and grandmother, Arcangelia.  Anyone who came to Alice home was always offered a meal, cake, or coffee.   She worked in accounts for several companies, always making sure the job was done right.  She worked a full-time job and ran a busy household with three children and her husband, and made it look easy.  We always had clean clothes, hot meals every night, and a warm, loving home to live in.  She was a total cat lover, adopting six cats over the course of her life.  Alice was a loyal friend, and devoted daughter, wife and mother.

Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward Zampella, Sr. in 2004. She is survived by her loving children Edward Zampella, Jr. and his spouse Jessica, Lisa Dorner and her spouse Joseph, and Robert Zampella and his spouse Richard. Alice was predeceased by her brothers Louis Massa and Thomas Massa. She is the cherished grandmother of Alexander Doster and Andrew Doster.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 1151 River Road, New Milford on Thursday, December 18th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. The following morning, Friday, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her memory in the Church of the Ascension, New Milford at 10 am. Entombment to follow at the Madonna Mausoleum, Fort Lee.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
