Alejo Cachero Cacdac was 82 years old when he passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born and raised in the province of La Union, Philippines. He obtained his high school diploma from Naguilian Academy. He was a certified ‘Doctor of Motors’ from the International Correspondence School. He started working as an auto mechanic in his hometown of Naguilian, during the time when car ownership was limited. Local folks say he knew the history of all the cars in town in those early days. He also remained as a farmer, like his forebears before him, to supplement the family income. According to him, he was a frustrated boxer. As much as he wanted to box in the ring, he didn’t really want to hurt anyone.
Alejo immigrated to the United States in 2009 and lived in Bergenfield, New Jersey. As a retiree, he immersed himself in arts and drawings. He loved listening to 60s and 70s music. He always took advantage of planting small crops come spring and summertime.
Alejo was the beloved husband of Teresita (Gacayan) Cacdac for 57 years. He was the loving father of Edwin and his wife Regina and Clarence and his wife Reamar. Alejo was the cherished brother of Jose, Pacita, Jorge, Lydia, Isabel, and Marcelo. He was the devoted grandfather of Samantha, Eric, Kim, and Louise.
