Adem Shavelli

The family of Adem T. Shavelli, 79 is saddened to announce his passing on April 24, 2021 at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood NJ. 

Loving husband to Peggy (nee Higgins). Beloved father to Anne Duurloo. Father-in-Law to Darrin. Loving grandfather to Steven, Amelia, Zachary and Nathan. 

He previously worked as a custodian in the Bergenfield, NJ school system where he enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas.

Adem's joy came from his family. He enjoyed 49 years with his wife and relished watching his grandchildren grow quickly, often commenting on how much they had grown since he saw them last, and always offered up his favorite chair. Everyone knew that Adem loved them and Adem loved them back fiercely. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling for many decades, and enjoyed the times he could see matches in person. His family liked to tease him saying it was "fake" to which he quickly objected.  You were a friend for life if you brought him Dunkin Donuts coffee. He loved horseback riding, and once he refused to use a saddle! If you challenged him to a match of dominos, you were sure to lose (he was great at keeping track). He was a genuine soul, and now rests in heaven with Thomas and Margaret Higgins, Anna May  Duurloo, his brothers, sisters, mother and father. The family will hold a memorial at a later date.
