Adelita H. Martinez

Adelita "Edith" Martinez was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she’s also known to her friends as “Manay” or “Minda” . She left this world suddenly on October 20th, 2021 at age 69.

Manay is survived by her daughters, Ma Jaylani Chaves and son in law Ron Chaves along with her grandchildren Expedito, J.C and Zhanelle; her youngest daughter Jarrah Aguilos Tampos who lives in Dubai with her son in law Nikos Tampos and her granddaughter Artemis and many brothers, sisters and relatives in the Philippines.

Manay had many close friends, and even closer relatives. Always she sacrificed her own time for the benefit of others. She was the embodiment of strength, the definition of diligence, and the essence of love.

If love was a place, she would be the foundation, laying the groundwork for the rest of her family to thrive. This was a self-sacrificing and unconditional love that’s often met with warmth and thoughtfulness, with witty remarks and humor, cooperation and unparalleled kindness.

Manay was a devout believer in the Lord. Often she would pray in silence, humming words of Gospel by her bedside, an unwavering faith in God. Her thoughts and prayers were always of family, friends and loved ones. More often than not, her requests from the Lord were unselfish, placing the well-being of others above her own.

Manay desperately wanted to go back to her home in the Philippines. This was a wish never granted; a reminder of how precious our time is in the world; a declaration of how we should strive to cherish our loved ones and dearest friends. We hope she will see greener pastures, not unlike her home-country; a white house on a hill, fields of corn and rice, old friends awaiting, an open embrace from a husband she will be reunited with.
