Brett Callegari, 60, of Bat Cave, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, June 2nd while on his way to help a friend with a project. A native and lifelong resident of New Jersey, he retired to Henderson County nine months ago. He was a son of the late Anthony and Ann Callegari.
Brett spent his career as a systems administrator in the information technology industry. He was passionate about the work he did and took pride in his responsibility to make the work of others easier. Brett was most enriched by the relationships he formed with his colleagues, many of which he considered to be extension of his family. Brett was full of life and exuded enthusiasm in all that he did. He enjoyed riding his ATV, building and fixing things, and most of all, helping others. He was the founder and president of the Autumn View Drive Road Association which he leveraged to improve and unite his small mountain community. He had an unwavering loyalty to others and loved his family and friends dearly. Brett had a heart of gold, and for those who cared to embrace it, they received the fullest measure of his love.
He is survived by his devoted wife Donna, whose love captured and melted his heart; his mother-in-law and "second wife", Joan Summers; his beloved son Anthony and his wife, Katharine, who were the greatest source of pride and happiness in his life; his brother, Mark; his sister, Jill; his sister Gina and all of those whom he loved and cared deeply for.
A memorial gathering will be held in the funeral home Thursday, June 27th from 7pm-9pm.
