Gloria S. Withim

Gloria S. Withim, nee Sayman, died of natural causes on Aug. 19 in her home in Bergenfield, New Jersey. She was 92 years old. Originally of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Gloria was a long-time resident of New York City where in 1954 she married Philip Withim. The couple later moved to Lewisburg, PA., where they raised their family. While there, Gloria was an active member of the Lewisburg Prison Society. Having studied culinary arts in London, she was a chef at the Lewisburg Inn and ran her own catering service. She wrote a weekly column, “Gloria’s Galley” in the Union County Journal. In 1990 the couple returned to New York City where they could indulge their total passion for food and the arts. Gloria later moved in with her daughter Alma in 2018. She was a graduate of Wilson College and earned her Masters degree in music at Columbia University.

She is survived by her son Brockett, her daughters Alma and Jocelyn and her four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 2 pm at 26 Graphic Blvd., Bergenfield, NJ.
