Financial Support

A death has occured or is expected and funds are limited, is there someone to help? Yes, help is typically available. New Jersey offers a host of programs designed to provide financial support:

  • SSI (Social Security Supplemental Security Income)
  • Medicaid
  • and Numerous Public Assistance programs

Begin the discussion- Simply call the funeral home at 201-692-0100 with the name of the deceased/critically ill, their Social Security number, their Medicaid case identification number, date of birth, and last known address. Benefits are administered on a County by County basis. Each of the 21 County Boards of Social Services have different policies and procedures for program qualification. The State of New Jersey sets the maximum reimbursement to the funeral home at $2246 and the maximm reimbursement to a cemetery or crematory at $524. Designed to allow the funeral home to provide additional services, a family member or friend may contribute additional funds limited to $1570 over and above the $2246 + $524 paid to the funeral home directly by the County Board of Social Services.

It all starts with a simple phone call. Please keep in mind, County agencies typically only operate between the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday -Friday.
