Benefits are administered on a County by County basis. Each of the 21 County Boards of Social Services have different policies and procedures for program qualification. The State of New Jersey sets the maximum reimbursement to the funeral home at $2246 and the maximm reimbursement to a cemetery or crematory at $524. Designed to allow the funeral home to provide additional services, a family member or friend may contribute additional funds limited to $1570 over and above the $2246 + $524 paid to the funeral home directly by the County Board of Social Services.
